Inspired by a BBC R4 programme which told the stories of some of the relatives of those lost on Flight MH17 which was shot down over Ukraine on 17 July 2014. one of the bereaved went everyday to the café where his daughter used to work. As he spoke of her and his loss, crockery clinked and sparrows chirped. The sparrow represents Bede's sparrow, illustrating the brevity of life and the unknowable nature of that which goes before or of what follows.
