St Kevin and the Blackbird

Inspired by Seamus Heaney's poem about Saint Kevin whose hands when they were lifted skywards in prayer became home to a blackbird who decided to create a nest there. The compassionate saint remained in position until the young fledged. Paintings of Saint Kevin often show him with a blackbird perched on his hand.
